Born on 20th September 1942, Krishna Dutta did her M.A in history from Calcutta University and took up museology. She never received any formal education in Fine Arts but was trained in Indian painting under the tutelage of Late Mukunda Majumdar. Her painting titled "HARIYE GECHHI AMI" (I am lost) was awarded the best water color painting by the great film maestro Satyajit Ray in the exhibition organized by the Calcutta Art Society in 1966.
She was a homemaker all through her life but painting had always been a breathing outlet a "SPIRACLE" for her. She continued to paint in her leisure hours and finally in December 2010 a solo exhibition of her 39 water color paintings was organized. At the end of the deepest night, hidden locked up talent saw the sudden flash of dawn. But time was too short for her and destiny was near. On 18th September 2011, she passed away after fighting a heroic battle with cancer. Her spirit and essence will live in her paintings forever.
