Traditionally associated with chastity and solitude, the embroidery is done during periods of being home alone.
The Embroidery Portraits: Man and Woman (2013), both describe the feeling of connection and disconnection within a relationship. The concept is related to issue of absence- living with a partner that is frequently absent from home due to short term work-related separation. They speak also of diaspora, of not belonging, of losing roots to the home country.
