Sravanthi’s most recent exhibits, though, was far more gritty and emerged as a response to the growing incidents of brutal violence against women in India and elsewhere. Jaago Stree featured a series of powerful works in oil, acrylic, mixed medium, and collage about women’s struggles to protect themselves, and equally importantly, their children, from domestic abuse. Her installation art and acrylic works presented at her solo Awakening the Sakthi was a tribute to the “Brave heart of India”, she used her canvas as a voice to create awareness on sexual violence and reached out to many women and young girls.
