The tension between the anxiety and aesthetic fascination that medical imagery of microscopic and metabolic life inspires in me a sensation I want to convey to the viewer. These paintings subvert expectations by offering imagery of dangerous viruses as decorative abstractions, luring the audience to willingly consume them. This painting inspired by the microscopic imaging of the Swine Flu contemplate the contradiction between their brilliantly intricate and decorative structure and their pernicious capabilities.
