I started drawing this work on Mother's Day 2012. It began as a story about ancient spirits but as I worked, the story unfolded as the archetypal Mother, watching over her children, protecting them from unknown dangers. The children are innocent of what is before and behind, as they tease each other and trust that they are safe.
