I have tried various styles of abstraction, and in my return to the discipline of representing nature, I have found a “cumulative” middle way. Realism offers the security and rationality of nature. Willful abstraction allows investigation and communication of the constructs of man. Growth and healing require deft navigation of this dichotomy. As in our dealings with others, we must strive to be generous, while maintaining individuality.
